In April, she <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/04/12/beyonce-writes-letter-michelle-obama/">dedicated a note to the first lady</a> via her website, heavy with praise, and this week, Bey delivered the message aloud, in a new <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1qpzHkA6tQ&feature=player_embedded" target="_blank">video</a> that supports President Obama's re-election campaign.</P><P>"I wrote a letter to the first lady because I wanted her to know that I'm very grateful for everything she's done for our country and also for women around the world," Beyoncé says as she introduces the clip.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Beyonce Gets Back To Business, Kicks Off Summer!" id="vid:785342" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>During the brief video, the camera cuts from the singer as she begins to read the note, and a set of photos showing Mrs. Obama hard at work and hanging with her family begins to play. "Michelle is the ultimate example of a truly strong African-American," Beyoncé reads as the photos scroll by. "She is a caring mother, she's a loving wife, while at the same time she is the first lady!"</P><P>When Beyoncé originally posted the handwritten note on her site in April, the FLOTUS respond via Twitter, writing, "Thank you for the beautiful letter and for being a role model who kids everywhere can look up to."</P><P>Beyoncé cemented her relationship with Michelle Obama last year, when she teamed up with the first lady to help promote the "Let's Move!" campaign, which targeted childhood obesity. According to Obama, Bey reworked her single "Get Me Bodied" into "Move Your Body," without even being asked, and she was happy to film an accompanying video for the song.</P><P>When Beyoncé made her return to the stage over Memorial Day weekend with a series of concerts at Revel Resorts — her first since baby Blue Ivy was born — the <a href="/news/articles/1685932/beyonce-michelle-obama-atlantic-city.jhtml">first lady made a trip to Atlantic City</a> along with her two daughters to catch the show and later praised Beyoncé for her performance.</P><P>During a May interview with <i>People,</i> the <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/05/30/michelle-obama-beyonce-atlantic-city-shows/">first lady expressed just how much she liked the singer</a>. "If I had some gift, I'd be Beyoncé," she said. "I'd be some great singer."</P>

Gold-medal-winning gymnast sets the Internet on fire after landmark victory in London.

<P>It's been an impressive run for Team U.S.A. over in London. As the <a href="/news/articles/1691023/olympics-carly-rae-jepsen-austin-mahone.jhtml">Summer Olympics</a> continue to captivate the world, event after event, it was a girl who has been nicknamed "The Flying Squirrel" who won not only the gold in the women's gymnastics all-around final competition on Thursday, but also the <i>hearts</i> of some of the biggest stars in entertainment.</P><P>What makes Gabby Douglas' win even more impressive is that the 16-year-old is the first African-American woman to take home the honor, a feat that has earned her major kudos from some major players in the music world and beyond. Kelly Rowland spoke to MTV News earlier this week, and she showed love to the soon-to-be gold medalist, proudly exclaiming, "Gymnastics! Gabby Douglas! She's awesome!"</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Kelly Rowland Is A Fan Of Gabby Douglas" id="vid:822664" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>But Kelly's not the only member of Destiny's Child enamored with the headline-making teen. Love, B."</P><P>They're hardly the only A-listers showing the tiny teen adoration. Lil Wayne <a href="https://twitter.com/LilTunechi" target="_blank">tweeted</a>, "Glad i lived to see what Gabby Douglas did in the Olympics. Icon." His Young Money pal Nicki Minaj also sent her some viral love. "Kisses to Gabby what an amazing little firecracker. #USA #Olympics," she <a href="https://twitter.com/NICKIMINAJ/status/231080554223767552" target="_blank">wrote</a>.</P><P>In fact, after Gabby <a href="https://twitter.com/gabrielledoug/status/231268869027790848" target="_blank">responded</a> to Weezy's tweet with "WOW!!!! The difference has been that I was ready to seize the moment, to focus and to trust in what I can do," Douglas wrote on her ESPN <a href="http://espn.go.com/espnw/blog/post/1163/the-biggest-night-my-life" target="_blank">blog</a> about her landmark victory.</P><P>"You say you want to do it and you dream about it every day, but then when it happens, it's hard to believe it really has. I've been watching a lot of HGTV since coming to LA. My favorite shows are House Hunters and House Hunters International. There's also another show I like to watch called For Rent, but only because it makes me angry.

Anyway, I know my LA update is WAY overdue (and truth be told I wrote a long one last week but for some reason it didn't save so I lost the whole thing and I was so angry that I just said, "Ah, f*ck it," and closed the computer instead of rewriting) but to give you a quick update, I AM SO HAPPY HERE. I MEAN, I'M REALLY, REALLY HAPPY. And I think living here and watching HGTV—both of these things combined—has made me realize that New York was just beating me down. I mean, the fireplace lady—yes, she's an idiot. But there's nothing wrong with wanting a dining room table. Why did I get so mad at that lady?
Since being here, at least once a day I ask myself why I have lived in New York for so long. (It's like I had Stockholm Syndrome or something.) CALIFORNIA IS AWESOME. It's like the promised land. It's sunny all the time and there are birds and flowers everywhere. I have space out here. I have a sofa on the patio out here. I HAVE A SOFA OUTSIDE. I haven't seen one rat since I've been here. But hummingbirds? THEY ZIP BY MY HEAD EVERY DAY. I am so happy.
I'm supposed to go back to New York in November, but truth be told, I'm not sure I will.

Finalizing the Christmas preparations, Kirsten Dunst carried home a mound of groceries for her mom at their home in Los Angeles on Saturday (December 22).
The "Melancholia" star was dressed for a relaxing day with the family in a gray long-sleeved top, short shorts, and white flats as she slung bags over both arms.

<P>Of all the images that make up the video for <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a>'s <a href="/news/articles/1690963/justin-bieber-as-long-as-you-love-me-music-video-premiere.jhtml">"As Long As You Love Me,"</a> none are as memorable as the moment that Michael Madsen lands his first punch on the singer.</P><P>Madsen's overprotective-father character may have enjoyed leaving Bieber bloody for wanting to date his daughter, but in real life, the actor said he didn't take any pleasure in the one-two punch.</P><P>"I didn't exactly enjoy slapping him around," he told MTV News on Thursday, one day after the video premiered. "Had he been a prick, had he been a brat, you know, I might have had fun with that. But he was actually, he was the opposite."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Michael Madsen Has A Soft Spot For Justin Bieber" id="vid:822276" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>If fans are wondering if Bieber was nervous to take a beating for the <a href="/news/articles/1690932/justin-bieber-as-long-as-you-love-me-video.jhtml">Anthony Mandler-directed clip</a>, Madsen explained that Bieber was more concerned about having it look real than scared to take the hit.</P><P>"He was very respectful, very respectful and decent to me," he said. "I think he wanted it to be well-done. I don't think he was blowing it off. I think that I've been around enough to know I can tell if somebody isn't really doing their job or taking what they do seriously. And I could tell from early on in the morning that he was. He wanted it to be right. He wanted it to be specific and had a good car, a '68 Charger. That's a pretty bitching car, you know? I saw that damn thing parked in front of the house and I went 'Wow, I hope that's mine.' But they put me in a Rolls Royce; not too bad at all."</P><P>So, given that Bieber and Madsen trade physical barbs <i>and</i> verbal ones, does the actor think Bieber has a future in Hollywood? "He had good eye contact. He was focused. He didn't have a double. I think he should leave the acting up to me," he laughed. "He can sing though. See I can't do that. It goes both ways. He can sing his head off and he's damn good at it, and I couldn't get close to that. 'There is no one that has been declared brain dead that has survived to being functional,' said neurologist Dr. Bren Masel, who was not treating Glover.

<P>More than a week after <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher's</a> stepson, Kile Glover, was <a href="/news/articles/1689206/ushers-stepson-declared-brain-dead-after-jet-ski-accident.jhtml">pronounced brain dead</a>
 following a traumatic head injury suffered during a <a href="/news/articles/1689261/usher-kyle-glover-jet-ski-jeffrey-s-hubbard.jhtml">jet-ski accident</a>
, the 11-year-old boy <a href="/news/articles/1690157/usher-stepson-kile-glover-taken-off-life-support.jhtml">died</a>
 of heart failure on Saturday.</P><P>Glover, the son of Usher's ex-wife, Tameka Foster, was reportedly taken off life support Saturday morning and died a short time later.</P><P>Given the seriousness of his injury, which resulted from blunt trauma to the head after Glover was hit by a jet-ski while floating in an inner tube on Atlanta's Lake Lanier, MTV News spoke to a neurologist about the prospects for victims of such major brain injuries.</P><P>"There is no one that has been declared brain dead that has survived to being functional," said neurologist Dr. Brent Masel, national director of the Brain Injury Association of America and medical director of the Transitional Learning Center of Galveston, Texas several days before Glover was pronounced dead. "They will not get better."</P><P>Masel, who was not treating Glover and had no first-hand knowledge of the case, explained that the prognosis in such cases is so grim because of the make-up of the brain. "When someone is declared brain dead, it's not that their brain is not functioning at all," he said. "There are two components to the brain, the cerebrum, which is the thinking part and the brain stem, which narrows and becomes the spinal cord."</P><P>The stem is the automatic part, which controls respiration and heart rate and someone can technically live without a functioning cerebrum, which is not unusual in such injuries. "The thinking part of the brain is no longer functioning and all the patient has functioning is the brain stem," he said. "Very often what happens when you're deciding if someone is brain dead, you take them off the respirator and they're not even breathing and the only thing going is their heart, which will stop functioning if you're not breathing."</P><P>Glover and a second victim, a 15-year-old girl, were struck by a Jet Ski while floating on an inner tube in Atlanta's Lake Lanier. Both children were airlifted to the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston pediatric hospital. The girl is reported to have suffered from a cut on the head and a broken arm, while Glover took the brunt of the trauma to his head.</P><P>Asked how it's possible that Glover could have suffered such a terrible wound while the girl in the inner tube with him escaped with less serious injuries, Masel said it is part of the unpredictable nature of trauma medicine. Pointing to a jet-skiing accident he was involved in 10 years ago in which he nearly ran over a friend's son, as well as the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (whose case he helped work on), Masel said "it's a matter of millimeters."</P><P>Just a few millimeters over and Glover may have come out with a very different wound, he said, noting that there are several very vulnerable spots on the brain that can result in such injuries. "As physicians, especially with a child, it's the hardest thing in the world because very often the child sort of looks okay and there are miracles that could occur," he said.</P><P>"What I always try to do is ask, 'what would I do if this was my sister or brother?' If I were the doctor I would say, 'if this were my child this is what I would do.' Could you breathe for that patient forever? Yes, We know artificial respiration isn't adequate, [though] and it's not the same as breathing normally. You can have someone on a respirator for a long period of time and eventually the brain deteriorates. Even if they said they want[ed] to keep him on the respirator for six months, or a year and wait for a miracle, the brain [wouldn't] be the same."</P><P>The man driving the jet ski has been identified as 38-year-old Jeffrey S. Hubbard, a family friend. At this time the police have determined that no drugs were involved, and no charges have been filed.</P>

Tip confirms second remix in the works for track, which previously featured a remix verse from Andre 3000.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/kesha_/artist.jhtml">Ke$ha</a>'s already gotten <a href="/news/articles/1656039/andre-3000-pops-up-on-kehas-sleazy-remix.jhtml">"Sleazy" with Andre 3000</a>. Now, a few more rappers want to get dirty with the glittery pop singer.</P><P><a href="http://www.xxlmag.com/news/2011/10/t-i-andre-300-lil-wayne-wiz-khalifa-record-kesha-remix" target="_blank">XXLmag.com</a> reports that <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/t_i_/artist.jhtml">T.I.</a> plans to jump on the track, and Lil Wayne and Wiz Khalifa will also be joining Andre and Tip on a new version of "Sleazy." Weezy should be a welcome addition to <a href="/news/articles/1651081/keha-gets-sleazy-on-new-cannibal-track.jhtml">Ke$ha's dance tune</a>, as it sounds somewhat like Wayne's single "A Milli." And while not much else is known about the remix, T.I. promised that he's going to go big with his verse.</P><P>"I haven't heard anybody but mine. ... I'm gonna put my money on mine," the newly freed rapper, who <a href="/news/articles/1671950/ti_prison-release.jhtml">ended an 11-month prison sentence</a> in September, told the website.</P><P>The Andre 3000 remix dropped earlier this year and appears on K-Dollar Sign's album <i>Cannibal.</i> The guys will have a lot of swagger to compete with because when Andre appeared on the first remix, he had this to say: "We start out so cute in our baby pictures/ That mama shot for our daddy so that he wouldn't forget you/ He forgot anyway, but hey, one day he'll remember/ If not, he's human, I'm human, you human, we'll forgive him/ I call her Keisha, she like it because it's 'hood to her/ She call me Andre 6000 because I'm good to her."</P><P>Tip told XXLmag.com that his appearance on the Ke$ha song is just one of many remixes he's amped about. He has also worked on remixes for Meek Mill and Rick Ross's "Ima Boss," as well as Jay-Z and Kanye West's <i>Watch the Throne</i> song "N---as in Paris."</P><P>"I'm looking for some more records to jump on," he said. <P>Of all the images that make up the video for <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a>'s <a href="/news/articles/1690963/justin-bieber-as-long-as-you-love-me-music-video-premiere.jhtml">"As Long As You Love Me,"</a> none are as memorable as the moment that Michael Madsen lands his first punch on the singer.</P><P>Madsen's overprotective-father character may have enjoyed leaving Bieber bloody for wanting to date his daughter, but in real life, the actor said he didn't take any pleasure in the one-two punch.</P><P>"I didn't exactly enjoy slapping him around," he told MTV News on Thursday, one day after the video premiered. "Had he been a prick, had he been a brat, you know, I might have had fun with that. But he was actually, he was the opposite."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Michael Madsen Has A Soft Spot For Justin Bieber" id="vid:822276" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>If fans are wondering if Bieber was nervous to take a beating for the <a href="/news/articles/1690932/justin-bieber-as-long-as-you-love-me-video.jhtml">Anthony Mandler-directed clip</a>, Madsen explained that Bieber was more concerned about having it look real than scared to take the hit.</P><P>"He was very respectful, very respectful and decent to me," he said. "I think he wanted it to be well-done. I don't think he was blowing it off. I think that I've been around enough to know I can tell if somebody isn't really doing their job or taking what they do seriously. And I could tell from early on in the morning that he was. He wanted it to be right. He wanted it to be specific and had a good car, a '68 Charger. That's a pretty bitching car, you know? I saw that damn thing parked in front of the house and I went 'Wow, I hope that's mine.' But they put me in a Rolls Royce; not too bad at all."</P><P>So, given that Bieber and Madsen trade physical barbs <i>and</i> verbal ones, does the actor think Bieber has a future in Hollywood? "He had good eye contact. He was focused. He didn't have a double. I think he should leave the acting up to me," he laughed. "He can sing though. See I can't do that. It goes both ways. He can sing his head off and he's damn good at it, and I couldn't get close to that.
